MEDICARE ANNUAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD
OCTOBER 15 – DECEMBER 7
Two Medicare Paths. One Trusted Local Guide.
Choosing Medicare coverage starts with understanding that you have two options in addition to Original Medicare.
Original Medicare is the federal health insurance program that includes two main parts:
- Part A: Covers inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facility stays, hospice care, and some home health services.
- Part B: Covers outpatient services such as doctor visits, preventive screenings, lab tests, and medical equipment.
- Part D: A separate plan for prescription drug coverage is required.
Original Medicare is managed by the federal government and is generally available to individuals who meet eligibility criteria. It does not cover everything. Services like prescription drugs, dental, vision, or hearing care are not included and must be obtained separately through other programs.

Bay Insurance can help you compare Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement options and understand the enrollment rules that apply to you. These plans work differently:
Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage is an alternative way to receive your Part A and Part B benefits through a private insurance company. Most plans include prescription drug coverage and may offer additional benefits, such as dental, vision, and hearing.
Your choice should reflect your healthcare needs, preferred doctors, medications, and budget.
Medicare Supplement
Medicare Supplement coverage works alongside Original Medicare and cannot be used to pay Medicare Advantage costs. Medicare Supplement also has its own enrollment protections; the annual Medicare Open Enrollment period does not automatically guarantee acceptance into a Supplement plan.
